Magnesium chloride is a kind of chloride, colorless and easy deliquescence crystals. The salt is a typical ionic halide, soluble in water. Hydrated magnesium chloride can be extracted from sea water or salt water, usually with 6 molecules of crystal water.

It lose crystal water when heated to 95 ℃ and starts to break down and release the hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas when above 135 ℃. It's the raw material of industrial production of magnesium, found in sea water and bittern.

1 Metallurgical industry, used in the manufacture of refractory materials and adhesives for building furnace arms, and as raw materials for the manufacture of flux II and smelting of magnesium metal.

2 Chemical industry, mainly used for the production of various magnesium salts, such as magnesium oxide, magnesium hydroxide, magnesium carbonate, firecrackers solid primer, also used as raw materials of antifreeze.

3 Building materials, with MgO made of hard corrosion resistant magnesia cement, can be made into artificial marble, clay tile, floor, ceiling, decorative board, fire board, bathtub, door and window frame and mobile house, etc. Used as antifreeze in winter construction.
