Potassium sulfate is an inorganic salt with the chemical formula K₂SO₄ and appears as a white crystalline powder. Agricultural-grade potassium sulfate usually has a light yellow appearance. Potassium sulfate has low hygroscopicity, is not prone to caking, and has good physical properties, making it easy to apply. It is an excellent water-soluble potash fertilizer and also a major raw material for the production of chlorine-free compound fertilizers containing nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.

Application

​Potassium sulfate is a basic raw material for the manufacture of various potassium salts such as potassium carbonate and potassium persulfate. In the glass industry, it is used as a clarifying agent. In the dye industry, it serves as an intermediate. In the fragrance industry, it is used as an auxiliary agent, etc. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is also used as a laxative and for the treatment of poisoning by soluble barium salts. In agriculture, potassium sulfate is a commonly used potash fertilizer, with a potassium oxide content of 50%. It is colloquially known as "white kali" in Taiwan.
