Product Description

Magnesium hydroxide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Mg(OH)₂. It appears as a white amorphous powder or colorless hexagonal columnar crystals. It is soluble in dilute acids and ammonium salt solutions, and is almost insoluble in water. The portion that dissolves in water is completely ionized, and its aqueous solution is weakly alkaline. When heated to 350°C, it loses water to form magnesium oxide. The natural mineral form of magnesium hydroxide is brucite, which can be used in sugar production and the manufacture of magnesium oxide, among other applications. Due to its relatively abundant presence in nature and its chemical properties being similar to those of aluminum, magnesium hydroxide has begun to replace aluminum chloride in deodorant products. It is also used as an analytical reagent and in the pharmaceutical industry.
