Because oxalic acid can reduce the bioavailability of mineral elements and readily forms calcium oxalate in the human body, which can lead to kidney stones, it is often considered an antagonist to the absorption and utilization of mineral elements. The anhydride of oxalic acid is carbonic anhydride (carbon trioxide). |
