1.Description:
Sodium metabisulfite is white or yellow crystalline powder or small crystal, with a strong SO2 odor, soluble in water, the aqueous solution is acidic, when contacted with strong acid, SO2 is released to form corresponding salts, and it is oxidized to Na2S2O6 when placed in the air for a long time. Therefore, the product cannot be stored for a long
time. Above 150 degrees Celsius, SO2 is decomposed.

Appearance and properties: colorless prismatic crystals or white powder; Has a sulfur dioxide odor, acidity, and saltiness; Store in a gradually yellow color over time.

Relative density (water=1): 1.48
Solubility: Soluble in water, with an acidic aqueous solution (54g/100ml of water at 20 ℃; 81.7g/100ml of water at 100 ℃). Soluble in glycerol, slightly soluble in ethanol. Relative density 1.4. Soluble in water, soluble in glycerol, slightly soluble in ethanol. It decomposes easily when exposed to moisture and oxidizes into sodium sulfate when exposed to air. Contact with strong acids releases sulfur dioxide and generates corresponding salts. Heat to 150 ℃ for decomposition.
Stability and reactivity
Prohibited substances: strong acids, strong oxidizing agents.
Conditions to avoid contact: humid air.
