1. Description:

Sodium chloride, CAS number 7647-14-5, EINECS registration number 231-598-3, chemical formula NaCl, colorless cubic crystal or fine crystalline powder, salty taste. The appearance is white crystalline, mainly sourced from seawater. Easily soluble in water and glycerol, slightly soluble in ethanol (alcohol) and liquid ammonia; Insoluble in concentrated hydrochloric acid. Impurity sodium chloride has deliquescence in the air. The stability is relatively good, and its aqueous solution is neutral. In industry, the method of electrolyzing saturated sodium chloride solution is generally used to produce hydrogen, chlorine gas, caustic soda (sodium hydroxide), and other chemical products (commonly referred to as chlor alkali industry). It can also be used for ore smelting (electrolysis of molten sodium chloride crystals to produce active metal sodium), medical use for preparing physiological saline, and daily use for seasoning.
